In short · TL;DR
Category
Peptides
Effect
Dermal fibroblast proliferation promotion, collagen and elastin synthesis promotion
Concentration
0.0001-0.001%
Effect
Dermal fibroblast proliferation promotion, collagen and elastin synthesis promotion
Mechanism
Fibroblast growth factor. Binds to FGF receptor → Activates dermal fibroblasts → Promotes collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid synthesis. While EGF acts on the epidermis, FGF acts on the dermis
Typical concentration
0.0001-0.001%
Onset
Firmness and elasticity improvement: 8-12 weeks
Cautions
Like EGF, large molecular weight limits transdermal absorption. Quality variation issues with topical application of natural growth factors. Chemically synthesized peptides (such as Oligopeptide-24) were designed as alternatives to EGF/FGF for this reason
Evidence & references
Extensive research in regenerative medicine. Large-scale RCTs as cosmetics are limited
