Effect
A water-soluble, stabilized vitamin C derivative. In the skin it is converted to free ascorbic acid and is said to support antioxidant action, suppression of sebum oxidation, and regulation of melanin production.

Mechanism
Phosphate esterification confers resistance to air oxidation; it is hydrolyzed by skin phosphatases to supply L-ascorbic acid. It is reported to be involved in free-radical scavenging and suppression of tyrosinase activity.

Onset
Around several weeks for stratum-corneum condition; several weeks to several months for tone and sebum (individual and formulation dependent).
Cautions
